Falling Head Over Heels for God

Ever pondered if you truly love God? Let’s be real-it’s a tough question. Even the most devout Christian might find themselves scratching their heads. And what about our kids? Do they harbor a love for Him as deep as we hope?

About a year back, a light bulb moment hit me like a ton of holy bricks: I might not have been head over heels in love with God after all. Sure, I’d say the words, do the deeds and ponder His greatness, but the loving God part hadn’t gotten the attention it deserved.

I’d poured my heart into loving others, as we’re called to do, but somehow missed that loving God is the ultimate game-changer. It’s the top dog commandment, the Alpha to our Omega, if you will.

So, there I was, humbled and sheepish, realizing I’d missed the memo for too long. But hey, cheers to God’s infinite patience with us flawed beings, right?

Determined to flip the script, I set out on a mission: how to fall madly in love with God? Turns out, it’s not rocket science. Why? Because God? Absolutely incredible!

  1. Daydream About Him: Picture this-God, the ultimate Creator, the selfless Savior, the ultimate MVP in our lives. When I mull over His awesomeness and the blessings He’s showered upon me, my heart can’t help but swell with love and gratitude.

  2. Love Notes to the Divine: Dropping a simple “Hey God, love ya!” is surprisingly powerful. And when I pour my heart out on why He rocks my world, it’s like hitting the divine jackpot.

  3. Hang Time with the Big Guy: Just like any relationship, quality time is key. Setting aside moments for prayer and worship? Instant love booster. Plus, cranking up some worship tunes? It’s like a love potion for the soul.

  4. Love in Every Move: From church gigs to mundane chores, doing it all with a sprinkle of love for God? Game-changer. It’s like God saying, “Love me with all your mind,” and we’re like, “Gotcha, Big Guy!”

So, here’s the deal: falling in love with God is a journey, and I’m just lacing up my shoes. But here’s the kicker-we need to guide our young ones on this love quest too. Let’s show them the ropes, help them see God’s awesomeness, and teach them how to love Him right back.
